Our Design Director, Tomoko Kawauchi MSGD, is now a registered member of The Society of Garden Designers…

Tomoko photographed in one of our recently completed gardens in London.

After working in the UK garden design industry for the past 16 years, Tomoko recently submitted a selection of her projects to the Society of Garden Designer’s (SGD) accreditation process for becoming a fully registered member. We are delighted to say that Tomoko became a fully registered member of the SGD in May. It is thought that she is the first ever Japanese member of this prestigious professional body.

Tomoko grew up in the foothills of Mount Fuji in Japan and gained a degree in architecture at the University of Shiga Prefecture near Kyoto before moving to the UK to study for a National Diploma in Horticulture at Writtle College in 2005.

She joined Charlotte Rowe Garden Design as a Junior Designer in 2006 and worked closely with Charlotte Rowe on a range of designs for seven years before joining another prestigious London design studio.  She rejoined Charlotte Rowe in 2018 as Design Director and now oversees all our design work in partnership with Charlotte Rowe.
